It was a great experience! We didn’t have to wait long which perhaps due the time of year. Overall, great experience and a nice time.

Arrive early!

The camel riding itself was enjoyable.
We arrived not long after 10am and the queue was huge.

Despite having pre-paid tickets, we couldn't get on a camel ride until 1pm, so had to go to the nearby beach to pass the time.

The man at the desk said you need to arrive much closer to 9am even if you have a pre-paid ticket as it's pretty much first come, first served.

The walk off the main road down to the camel place is also quite tricky terrain with a buggy (a lot of sand and gravel).

Not much to do here so booked camels as something a little different. We bought tickets online and was told to arrive between 9-11 am to get a space. On arrival at approx 0940 there was about 100+ people waiting around. We joined what we thought was the queue and waited approx 30 mins against a shaded wall- thank god for this shade!

We then got to the desk and showed our prebooked voucher for this date and was told we would be on the next ride.. which was going to be at 1pm. Slightly caught us off-guard as we didn’t expect to be waiting around for 3 hours.

We walked down to the town/shopping centre had a look around and waited until we went back 20 mins to 1.

We was then shouted for our number (on ticket given earlier) and sat onto our camel. Ride was fun, was taken around the dunes, not much to look at and very slow however something different for 30 mins.

On return you can purchase your picture for €5 (there’s a man who takes two photos of you very quickly 1. Before the camel stands up and 2. Shortly after you set off on your ride, so be aware they will be taken with short notice!

All staff are nice and friendly and the excursion is over before you know it.

We made the mistake of walking right out of the camel area/up the long road so was unable to get a taxi until we had walked at least a mile.

Overall, recommend for something different just don’t be expected to be blown away with excitement. Good value for money and make sure to get there at 0900 if you don’t plan on spending the whole day in maspalomas :)
